In mijn drang om modellen dichtbij huis te zoeken kwam ik op Model Mayhem Bianca tegen. En hoe dichtbij wil je het hebben, ze woont in hetzelfde dorp en op hemelsbreed 500 meter. Blijkt vervolgens ook nog eens dat haar jongere broertje bij mijn zoon in het basketball team zit. Het is echt soms een kleine wereld.

In my urge to find models close to home I stumbled upon Bianca on Model Mayhem. And just how close you want it, she even lives in the same village at 500 meters as the crow flies. And we also found out her younger brother plays in the same basketball team as my son. It’s a small world afterall. (continue reading…)

Soms kruizen op de meest onverwachte momenten de meest fantastische modellen je pad. In dit geval had ik met Angie afgesproken dat ik foto’s zou maken voor haar visagie site. Een vriendin van haar, Priscilla, zou poseren. Iets wat ze nooit eerder had gedaan. Angie was er vooraf stellig van overtuigd dat Priscilla het perfecte model hier voor zou zijn. Een klein understatement.

Sometimes at the most unexpected moments the most amazing models cross your path. In this case I had agreed with Angie to do photo’s for her MUA website. A friend of hers, Priscilla, would model. Something she had not done before. Beforehand Angie was adement that Priscilla would be the perfect model for this. A small understatement. (continue reading…)

Mandy is eigenlijk een beetje in het modellenwereldje gerold door een verzoek van een fotograaf op Hyves. Ze was helemaal niet op zoek naar fotoshoots. De eerste beviel zo goed dat ze zich inschreef op Model Mayhem. En daar kwam ik haar tegen.

Mandy sort of stumbled into the modelling world on a request from a photographer on Hyves (Dutch social network site). She was not looking for photoshoots. But she liked the first one and she registered on Model Mayhem. And that’s where I found her.

Alweer een eerste keer van mij  lijstje doorgestreept, een zwangerschapsshoot. Normaal gesproken zeg ik niet snel toe maar met Maartje had ik al twee keer gewerkt met hele mooie resultaten. Dit moest dus gewoon lukken.

This is another first I can cross of my list, a maternity shoot. Normally I wouldn’t say yes to quickly but I had already worked with Maartje two times before with very nice results. This just had to work.

Odette was op zoek naar een fotograaf voor een portfolioshoot. Als locatie kozen we de zolder bij haar woning in hartje Utrecht. Alleen was de zolder niet zo groot als ik aanvankelijk dacht. Een echte uitdaging dus.

Odette was looking for a photographer for a portfolioshoot. For the location we choose the attic of her home in downtown Utrecht. Only the attic wasn’t as big as I thought it was. So it was a real challenge. (continue reading…)

Soms duurt het weken en maanden voordat je met een model een datum voor een shoot kunt afspreken, en soms gaat het razendsnel. Voor je het weet zit je in de auto naar Enschede. Thuy is een geboren Vietnamese en op de een of andere manier wilde ik zo snel mogelijk een shoot met haar doen.

Sometimes it takes weeks and months before you can set a date for a shoot with a model, and sometimes it goes lightning quick. Before you know it you are in the car to Enschede.
Thuy was born in Vietnam and for some reason I wanted to do a shoot with her as soon as possible. (continue reading…)

Tessa is een vriendin van Angie en die heeft dan ook deze shoot geregeld. Voor Tessa was het de eerste keer voor de camera en dat maakte het voor iedereen extra spannend.

Tessa is a friend of Angie’s and she was the one to arrange this shoot. It was Tessa’s first time in front of the camera and that made it extra exciting for all. (continue reading…)

Zoals belooft hier het vervolg op de testshoot met Angie. Eigenlijk zijn we gewoon verder gegaan waar we gebleven waren en hebben niet terug gegrepen op de eerdere setups.
We zijn wat meer gaan experimenteren met licht en poses en de resultaten mogen er wat ons aangaat best zijn. Laat ik er verder geen woorden aan vuil maken maar gewoon wat beelden laten zien.

As promised here is the sequel to the testshoot with Angie. In real we just went ahead were we left off and didn’t go back to previous setups.
We started to experiment more with light and poses and the result are, according to us, real nice. But let us not spill words about it and just show some images.

Het is altijd leuk om nieuwe spullen uit te proberen. Voor de twee hierboven geplaatste foto’s heb ik gebruik gemaakt van mijn nieuwe Speedlight Pro Kit. Opvouwbare reflectors en grids uit Maleisië.
